McQueen's bike goes for $361,000.

The last remnants of Steve McQueen's once massive vehicle collection was sold off at auction in Los Angeles in November of 2006, with the most expensive bike, a 1937 American-made Crocker V-twin, fetching a world record $361,000

His 1934 Indian Scout fetched a ludicrous $232,000, while a 1920 Indian Powerplus Daytona sold for $196,000.

But if you think those prices are out of control, spare a thought for the sanity of the person who spent $91,000 for a pair of the dead film star's sunglasses.

McQueen died at age 50 in 1980 and the majority of his collection was sold off at a Las Vegas auction over 20 years ago.

Crocker built motorcycles from 1936 to 1941. It started with a 3hp scooter and quickly switched to 1000cc V-twins using a mix of Harley, Indian and its own parts.

Inovative or Messed up?

Unbelievably, in 1937 the French military thought that they might need some motorcycles that were also half tanks as well. And one of these very rare 350cc engined half-track Merciers actually still exists as a museum piece. Strangely, this technological mess even featured front wheel drive. But like all crazy half-track designs, this vehicle sacrifices the speed and maneuverability of motorcycles as well as the true off-road ability of a real tank, offering the best of neither design. Further, this awful design looks nearly as dangerous to the rider as any enemy action. Some things just shouldn't be built. Or should they? What trouble we could get into with something like this.

When being adrift isn't a bad thing...

A famous French shipbuilder and one of Monaco's ship companies joined hands together to build this yacht with enormous dimensions: 58meter long and 38 meter wide. These are the first pictures of this project.
The yacht, an area of 3400 m2 with seating for 12 passengers and 20 crew.

Wally Hermès uses green energy and saves 20 to 30% in fuel and saves an additional 40 to 50% on electricity consumption with solar power. The panels are 900 square meters in size when fully open and produce 500 kW each day.

It boasts three decks, a 25 meter pool, a spa, helicopter pad, sauna, gym and massage room, music room, a dining room, a cinema, sun decks, suites, terraces, and a lounge area. bibi . The decks are connected by stairs but there is also an elevator.

The suite of the owner is simple, yet spacious. Note the large bathroom complete with soaker-style spa tub in the background.

With an area of 200 square meters, the third deck is a private one. (This shot is off the master bedroom) The sea view is great and there is a private terrace 25 meters long.

The yacht has the shape of a horseshoe and has a detracting roof making everything a sea of light on the clear days.

On the lower deck are the common premises, such as lounge, piano bar and dining area.

World's longest!

This world’s longest motorcycle. This limo-style motorcycle is 31.5 feet long and was built in Russia by Oleg Rogov in 2005. It has about 14 seats and looks like you probably have to take the turns quite wide and with some coordinated leaning into the turns from your mass of passengers. We should build one for our membership...we could cut down on the cost of insurance if we all only owned one bike!

Bowl-a-thon Highlights!

Tony took into being a teacher...brought a tear to the eye of all those who watched.



It worked out well...just not for Tony. The boy got better while Tony eventually had an 'elbow issue'!


In the end...we had a lot of laughs and many of our younger bowlers went home with dangerous gifts...just like this Pocket Knife above! Good times! Thanks to all who gave and remember to "bowl like you mean it"!
